About

My name is Virginia England and I am currently pursuing a Masters of Fine Arts degree in graphic design at Savannah College of Art Design. I live and work in Savannah, GA as a freelance graphic designer and exhibitions docent at SCAD's Gutstein Gallery.

I am passionate about visual communication and the ability of design to express ideas in ways that words alone cannot. Like any true southerner, I am storyteller. I see value in stories because our past experiences are what shape us and make us who we are. Writing has had a major influence on my design process. I used to think of design and writing as two very separate skills, however  I have come to realize that in my creative process the two skills are intertwined. A compelling story must be timely, relevant to your audience and have the ability to make people care or see a perspective different from their own. I have begun to realize that these same qualities also make a strong design concept. My goal is to create compelling designs with loads of personality that are innovative without distracting from the user-experience.
